Airline Catering: Flight Catering Units of Thai Airways

Flight Catering Unit: One of the most modern flight catering units in the Far East. With a production capacity of 25,000 meals per day and a capability of handling 20 high loaders at the same time, the catering unit could serve as many as 30 airlines. The 25-rai site was fully occupied by 29,000 sq.m. main building, wastewater treatment plant, loading and unloading platform, and car and high loader park. The main building was divided chiefly into administration, storage, production and workshop areas. Metric’s responsibility included planning, design and construction supervision.

 

Expansion of THAI Flight Catering Unit: With the aim to increase the production capacity by 60 percent, five new structures and extensive renovation of main production section were planned. The expansion areas mainly served as dish washing area, 14 additional high loader loading and unloading docks, carts storage and extension of wastewater treatment plant. The most challenge of the design was, however, in the renovation of the existing production area. The relocation of all equipment and system works could not obstruct the food processing operations, or even cause any negative effects on the highly hygienic standard of client’s products.
