Aircraft Hangar & Maintenance Facilities: B747-400 Hangar, Technical Department Building and Aircraft Engine Shop of Thai Airways

B747-400 Hangars and Aircraft Maintenance Facilities: Two separate hangars with support facility buildings, an aircraft engine maintenance shop, a computerized spare parts store, a workshop and a carpark building were included in the planning, design and construction supervision contract awarded by Thai Airways International Ltd. The larger hangar was triple in size capable of accommodating two B747-400 and one B737 simultaneously, while the smaller hangar was designed for one B747-400. The carpark building was 8 stories in height, providing a total space for 1,200 cars. The project size in terms of utilizable floor area was approximately 110,000 sq.m.

 

Technical Department Buildings and Aircraft Engine Shop: Planning and design work which included two buildings of three-four stories in height, part of which was used as jet-engine maintenance shop for THAI’s fleet of aircrafts. Other facilities included in the project were office areas, computer center, classrooms and catering area for the staff.

 

Plating Facility for Aircraft ‘s Parts: A plating shop facility capable of electro-plating up to 8 processes. The project was sponsored by General Electric and constructed for Thai Airways International Ltd. Design-build contract was awarded to Metric.
